Thinking about adopting a child?
Adopting is not as hard as you may think! Our requirements are flexible:
- Married, divorced and single men and women can adopt
- You don't have to be wealthy or own your home
- You can live in an apartment
- You can have other children
- You can work, as long as you have adequate child care arrangements
- You don't need to have reached a set level of education
You don't have to be Lutheran to adopt through Lutheran Adoption Service.
Lutheran Adoption Service specializes in the placement of children from the State’s foster care system. Many children in foster care need permanent adoptive homes. There is little or no cost involved in adopting a child from the foster care system.
The Adoption Process
Prospective adoptive parents attend an orientation and training program, and then file a formal application. Lutheran Adoption Service will conduct a thorough assessment of your family. We will identify a child or sibling group we think will do well as part of your family. You will be able to visit with the child(ren) and decide if it is a good match. After the child is placed in your home, we will supervise the placement for a year until the adoption is finalized. During this time, you will have access to our post-adoption services, including therapy, resource information, referrals and search & reunion assistance and counseling.
